Our super efficient vinyl windows are ENERGY STAR® certified, with dual-pane glass filled with Argon gas, a natural insulator. We also add a low-emissivity coating that helps filter sunlight to stabilize temperature changes due to solar gain. Additionally, by filtering out harmful UVA and UVB rays, this coating can substantially diminish fading and deterioration of valuable furniture and rugs.
Most of the lights in our homes are fitted with extremely efficient LED bulbs. These provide rich, warm light while saving up to 85% over incandescent bulbs. These bulbs are even more efficient than compact flourescent "curly-cue" bulbs. As an added bonus, they rarely need changing, with an expected life span of up to 25,000 hours.
We use gas heating rather than electric. Natural gas is a cheaper form of energy. Gas systems are more efficient in cold weather because they can more easily reach high temperatures and will heat your home faster and at a lower cost.
Every ENERGY STAR® dishwasher we use will save, on average, 3870 gallons of heated water over its lifetime. More efficient jets use less water to spray detergent and water over the dishes while cleaning.
Air Conditioning
Our air conditioning is rated at an extremely efficient 14 SEER! This is more efficient than the vast majority of homes, even those built in the recent past.
